Part of the IOI Resort, Palm Garden offers 27-holes of championship golf, laid out in a pleasantly undulating, well presented parkland environment. Each of the three nine-hole loops is has its own character and challenges. The Putra course (holes 1 - 9) and neighboring Palm course (holes 10 - 18) usually combine to form the tournament venue, while the shorter but no less interesting IOI course (holes 19 - 27) is a favorite with many members.
The Putra course certainly gets your round off to a challenging start, with water in play from tee to green on the tough par-4 opener. More tree-lined and generally tighter than the Palm course, the Putra keeps the pressure on throughout the front-nine, with the closing hole, another testing par-4, requiring two carries over water, the second of these an attractive lily-filled pond. The neighboring par-5 18th hole (No.9 on the Palm) also requires a water carry before the green; the lily-filled pond having transformed into an attractive flower-filled creek.
Characterizing the easier-going Palm course are generously wide fairways, with a wide band of light semi-rough making them appear even wider. The Palm's toughest hole is the par-3 15th - anything a fraction short of the green will bounce off a solid stone wall, back into a pond that stretches from tee to green.
The IOI course is a tighter test than either the Putra or Palm. It starts and finishes with water hazards threatening any misjudged tee-shots. In between is a very pleasant though less watery stretch of holes, often quite tight. Blind tee shots need to be made at the 3rd, 4th and 7th holes, where a gentle ridge crosses the fairways.
On-site facilities include chapping and putting greens, grass driving range, and well stocked pro shop and locker rooms.
Palm Garden Golf Club offers excellent value-for-money as it hard to find such a high quality Kuala Lumpur golf course for the price. This Malaysia golf course is characterized by good course maintenance, easy accessibility, ample tee times, and a fun experience for all level of golfers.
